This is the first time that Classical record labels have supported
Record Store Day, and Abergavenny Music is planning to celebrate
the day with instore events, live music, CD signings &
opportunities to meet local artists. There will be free
soft drinks and snacks throughout the day. All this PLUS a
fair smattering of LIMITED EDITION VINYL all released just for
Record Store Day!
We will be carrying the three Classical releases (vinyl singles)
from Decca & EMI, plus about 40 out of the very long list of
non-Classical titles released exclusively for Record Store Day.
Distinguished Baroque violinist Rachel Podger will be with us
mid-morning to chat and sign CDs, and we hope we'll be able to
persuade her to play a movement or two. Her newest CD of
Vivaldi's La Cetra is due for release in mid May 2012, and we'll
have good stock of her extensive discography.
We are also hoping that much admired guitarist Dylan Fowler &
cellist Gillian Stevens will be with us early afternoon to play and
sign CDs.

RSD showing people how to make album covers using a star wheel

followed by the usual club.

Helen Reddington Talk/Performance at David's Music
Helen Reddington (aka Helen McCookerybook of the Chefs) talks
about her new book 'Lost Women of Rock - female musicians of the
Punk Era'
The book explores the sudden influx of women in rock music enabled
by the emergence of punk and the Sex Discrimination Act, right
through to the demise of the scene, and the reasons why the end of
punk saw the end of these once prominent female rock musicians.
Tickets for this event are £4 each which is redeemable against
the full price of the book. If you are interested in coming, you
will need to reserve a place. Pop into the shop if you can, or give

1pm - Port Erin - Wiltshire-based trio Port Erin blend elements of
folk, jazz and funk and mix it into a classic rock sound with a
driving rhythm section.
2pm - Jake Morley - Cutting his teeth on the London circuit before
recording an album (out now) and getting BBC radio airplay,
singer/songwriter Jake Morley's real life lyrics are accompanied by
his unorthodox and percussive guitar playing.
3pm - Grant Dermody - Eric Bibb's ace harp player and a champion
of blues and root music, his understated but virtuosic harmonica
playing has made him the go-to accompanist for countless modern
