Riding a wave of intense media attention and industry hype, Gay Dad became the first band ever to appear on Top of the Pops before releasing a record. Their debut album, Leisure Noise, arrived in 1999, entering the UK charts at No. 14. Described as “thrillingly energising, gorgeously melodic and strangely beautiful,” the album produced several charting singles: the top 10 hit 'To Earth With Love,' followed by 'Joy!' and 'Oh Jim.'
Featuring production from Gary Langan (Art of Noise), Chris Hughes (Tears for Fears, Peter Gabriel, Paul McCartney, Propaganda), and Tony Visconti (on 'To Earth With Love'), Leisure Noise was well received by the media, though in some circles it struggled to meet the lofty expectations surrounding the band. Nevertheless, it has endured as a cult favourite. Now reissued on vinyl for the first time since 1999, Leisure Noise returns on coloured vinyl with a die-cut sleeve.
