Cookie Policy
Last updated: 27 August 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Record Store Day UK ("we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on recordstoreday.co.uk and related MyRSD services (together, the "Site").
The Site is operated by the Entertainment Retailers Association ("ERA"), a company registered in England and Wales with company number 2268007.
We use cookies and similar technologies in line with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR). For wider information about how we handle personal data, see our Privacy Policy at /privacy-policy.

What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, phone, or tablet when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work, remember preferences, and understand how visitors use a site.
We also use similar browser technologies such as local storage and session storage. These store information in your browser without using a traditional cookie file. In this policy, we refer to cookies and these similar technologies together as "cookies" where helpful.
Cookies may be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (kept for a set period or until you delete them).
First-party and third-party cookies
First-party cookies are set by us or on our behalf when you use the Site.
Third-party cookies are set by another organisation whose service appears on or integrates with the Site — for example when you complete a payment through Stripe, watch an embedded YouTube video, or interact with an embedded Spotify player.
We do not use third-party advertising or social-media tracking cookies on the Site, and we do not use Google Analytics.
How we use cookies
We group cookies and similar technologies into the categories below. Strictly necessary technologies are required for the Site to function and cannot be switched off in our systems. Functional technologies remember preferences. Analytics technologies run only if you choose Accept all on our cookie banner.
Strictly necessary cookies
These cookies and technologies are essential for security, authentication, and basic operation of the Site.
Authentication session cookies: when you sign in to MyRSD, our authentication provider (Supabase) sets session cookies so you remain signed in as you move between pages. These cookies are required to provide account features such as wishlists, check-ins, notifications, and shop dashboards.
Cookie consent cookie (`rsd_cookie_consent`): when you respond to our cookie banner, we store your choice in a first-party cookie and in browser local storage (`rsd-cookie-consent-v1`) for up to one year so we do not ask you again on every visit.
Security and form protection: certain auth and account flows use server-side checks (including puzzle verification on sign-in and sign-up) to reduce automated abuse.
Without strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Site — especially signed-in features — will not work correctly.
Functional cookies and local storage
These technologies remember choices you make and help the Site respond quickly. They are not strictly required for every page to load, but they improve your experience.
Event favourites: stores events you have saved locally for quicker access on your device.
Promotional banner dismissal: remembers when you dismiss a homepage or marketing banner so it is not shown again during the same campaign.
Dashboard layout preferences: remembers collapsed or expanded sidebar state in MyRSD.
PWA and onboarding helpers: short-lived local or session storage entries may record that you have completed or dismissed install, push-notification, or post-sign-up prompts so we do not repeat them unnecessarily.
Public cache version: a local storage entry may help refresh cached public content after we publish updates.
Legacy browser keys: older versions of the Site stored wishlist and shop-favourite IDs in local storage. If those keys are still present, we may read them once to migrate data into your signed-in account and then clear them. New likes are stored in your MyRSD account, not as an ongoing local cache.
You can remove functional storage by clearing site data for recordstoreday.co.uk in your browser settings.
Analytics and performance
We use first-party, in-house analytics to understand how the Site is used and to improve it. We do not use third-party advertising cookies for this purpose.
Page-visit analytics and PWA install measurement only run after you choose Accept all. If you choose Reject all, or have not yet made a choice, we do not record these analytics events.
Page-visit analytics: when analytics are enabled, we may record the page path, how long you stayed on the page, whether the visit was on a marketing or app section of the Site, a temporary anonymous client token generated in your browser session, and, if you are signed in, your user account ID. Admin, auth, API, and offline routes are excluded. Data is stored on our systems and used in aggregated admin and shop reporting.
PWA install measurement: if you install the Site as an app while signed in and have accepted analytics cookies, we may record install events and basic platform information for internal statistics.
These analytics help us understand popular pages, improve performance, and report aggregate usage to ERA and participating shops. They are not used to build advertising profiles or to track you across unrelated websites.
Third-party cookies on the Site
Some third-party services may set their own cookies when you interact with them through the Site:
Stripe (Record Token checkout): when you buy Record Tokens at /record-tokens/checkout, Stripe's payment form may set cookies or use similar technologies to prevent fraud, process your payment securely, and meet regulatory requirements. Stripe's use of cookies is governed by Stripe's own policies.
YouTube (embedded videos): some pages such as Behind The Counter and Meet the Team use YouTube embeds via YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode (`youtube-nocookie.com`). YouTube or Google may still set cookies when you play a video or interact with the player. See Google's policies for details.
Spotify (playlist embeds): where we embed or load Spotify playlist players, Spotify may set cookies or similar technologies when you interact with the player. See Spotify's policies for details.
Maps and address search: the store locator uses map tiles from CARTO / OpenStreetMap and address search via Photon (Komoot). Those providers may process your search queries or tile requests when you use locate-me or address search features.
External links: the Site links to independent record shops, social networks, and other third-party websites. Those sites may set cookies when you visit them. This Cookie Policy does not apply to third-party sites you reach by leaving the Site.
Service worker and offline caching
If you install the Site as a progressive web app (PWA) or your browser registers our service worker, parts of the Site may be cached on your device so pages load faster or remain available offline. This uses browser cache storage rather than traditional cookies. Cached content is limited to Site assets and does not include your account password. Push notifications, if you enable them, are also delivered through the service worker.
Our cookie banner
When you first visit public or signed-in parts of the Site (other than admin tools), we show a cookie banner with options to Accept all or Reject all, along with links to this Cookie Policy and our Privacy Policy.
Your choice is stored in local storage and in the `rsd_cookie_consent` cookie for up to one year. Strictly necessary cookies will still be used so the Site can function. Analytics cookies run only if you Accept all. Some community features on marketing pages wait until you have made a choice (accept or reject) before they appear.
Rejecting optional cookies does not prevent you from browsing public pages or signing in. It does stop our first-party page-visit analytics and PWA install measurement.
How to manage cookies
You can change or withdraw your cookie preference by clearing cookies and site data for recordstoreday.co.uk in your browser. The cookie banner will appear again on your next visit.
Most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete existing cookies through their settings. Mobile devices usually offer similar controls in system or browser settings.
If you block strictly necessary cookies, signed-in features and some security controls may not work. Blocking third-party cookies may affect Stripe checkout or embedded video or playlist playback.
To opt out of marketing emails, use the unsubscribe link in our emails or update your preferences in MyRSD settings. Push and in-app notifications can be managed separately in MyRSD settings.
For more about your privacy rights, see our Privacy Policy at /privacy-policy.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example if we add new features, change providers, or need to reflect legal requirements. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
We encourage you to review this page periodically.
