But all of that was mere prelude for what was about to unfold; for in 1997, Holkenborg adopted his Junkie XL persona and embarked on a journey that was to wind up with his composing wildly acclaimed film scores for films like Mad Max: Fury Road, 300: Rise of an Empire, Divergent, and Deadpool. But it all got started with this album, Saturday Teenage Kick, the first project released under the Junkie XL moniker and to this day a groundbreaking blend of rock and electronica.
