'Funny Cos It's True' is eleven tracks of intoxicating indie-pop. Following their acclaimed self-titled debut album in 2024, the record sees the band firmly stepping into their sound. Layered with a hazy retro sound, while sounding distinctly new, the album sees the band rediscover and reinvent a classic sound with a heavy dose of infectiously anthemic choruses and a knack for lustrous songcraft. Lyrically, the album searches deep and resonates on an emotional level, with songs written from the perspective as a parent to his young daughter, and also as a son, following the death of his own father from Alzheimer's.
Sonically, the band sit in a lustrous retro-futurist lane: classic textures and warm psych-pop sheen. Think Steely Dan / R.E.M. / Arcade Fire touchpoints, with the modern alt-rock glow of acts like The War On Drugs and Tame Impala, but always with melody front and centre.
